Stoichiometery Class 11 Chemistry Handwritten Notes

Stoichiometery Class 11 Chemistry Handwritten Notes

The word stoichiometry is derived from the Greek words: stiocheion (meaning 'element') and metron (meaning 'to measure'). Stoichiometry is the relative numbers of atoms and molecules which are involved in the chemical reaction or it gives the quantitative relationship between reactants and products in a chemical reaction. In this unit, we study about the law regarding chemical combination, mole concept, percentage yield and the chemical calculations related to these terms.

What we are going to study
In this chapter we are going to study about dalton's atomic theory, laws of stoichiometry, avogadro's law and some deductions, mole and its relation with mass, volume and number of particles, limiting reactant and excess reactant.

  Key Objectives
When you have finished studying this unit, you should able to:

  • explain the postulates of Dalton's atomic theory.
  • understand the laws related to stoichiometry and its chemical calculations.
  • describe Avogadro's law and its applications.
  • know the concept of mole, limiting reactant, and percentage yield and numerical these terms.
  • solve the numericals on empirical and molecular formula from percent composition.
